Getting invited over to the house of one of Brazil’s musical legends is a rare and welcome treat, so we gathered up all our confidence and rang the bell. Active since 1959, Gilberto Gil has been one of Brazil’s leading musical talents, cultural ambassadors, and voices of the people fusing musical styles into his own unique blend of tropical melodies.
Invited by Prime Video, we expertly crafted the visual identity for “At home with the Gils,” a series that documents Gilberto’s family as they’re getting ready to head off on a European tour.
Like any family gathering, there’s plenty of laughs, tears, fun, and drama and, since this is the Gil family after all, tons of amazing poetry and music. So after some thought, we decided to focus on the family’s diversity as it relates to the original legend himself.
Eight decades of musical exploration from bossa nova and rock, to tropicália with even a touch of pop. Tracing back all the ramifications of such an illustrious career, we here at Miagui designed every last detail of a new visual esthetic custom made for the Gils.
Layers of vivid color, images of the master himself, and our custom typography make for a vibrant but welcoming esthetic that to us is the perfect encapsulation of such a diverse, talented family.
