It’s not every day that we’re invited to the home of a master of Brazilian music, so we jump on the bandwagon and enjoy every minute of this unique experience. It was a great challenge for us to design an esthetic concept for the Gil family, but as the patriarch of the family taught us, “faith usually doesn’t fail”.
At the invitation of Prime Video, we designed the visual identity for “Em casa com os Gil”, a series that follows the family of Gilberto Gil as they prepare for a European tour to celebrate his 80th anniversary.
As with any family reunion, there’s crying, laughing, rejoicing, shouting … and in the case of the Gil family also a lot of poetry and music. Therefore, our main focus was to show the diversity of the Gil family and the brilliant work of this great musician and composer.
It was eight decades in which many musical aspects were explored: Baião, Forró, Rock, Bossa, Tropicália, Rock and Pop. A history that reflects diversity. Looking at all the ramifications of Gil, Miagui developed all the visual esthetics, such as graphics and logo that represent the artist and his family.
The typographic overlays are literally a meeting of many different Gils. With its bright colors, the graphics burst with energy, creating a vibrant and inviting esthetic that reflects both the Gil family and his artistic career.
As a final result, we deliver the overall esthetic seen in Prime Video’s motifs, vignettes, posters and digital ads.
